L.G.R sunglasses are the result of an idea of Luca Gnecchi Ruscone. While traveling in Eritrea, he found a trunk full of Thirties and Fifties eyewear in an abandoned warehouse. He was so fascinated that he decided to take them back with him to Europe and trace the life cycle of this elegant and “timeless” eyewear.
He found traditional craftsmen and began to produce small quantities that respected the principles of many years ago. For the frames he used acetate from Mazzucchelli and glass lenses supplied by Barberini.
In October 2007, he took part in his first fair in Paris (AREA – independent stylists). It was highly successful and they were sold to the best stores throughout the world.
In Paris, he met Carine Roitfeld (the editor of Vogue France), who fell in love with his eyewear and wrote an article about them in the February issue of Vogue France. It appeared in Flair Italy (April), Elle.It (March), Amica Germany (April) and in various Italian newspapers.
The distinctive feature of L.G.R eyewear is that there is no external logo; the name of the model, the size and the make are branded on the inside. Its elegance lies in eyewear that is simple, top quality and does not conform to the optical dictates of our times. No presumption, no ostentation, just the promise of elegance.
