It will be an eyewear collection where design and materials will be the common denominators with Black Label, the group’s brand identity. At the moment, no other details are known, a contradiction of the rumors of a few months ago when it seemed that the launch operation was already underway.
“For frames we will also make the right product at the right time and with the right partner”, declared Marcello Bottoli, president and chief executive of Samsonite, which was recently taken over by private equity company Cvc Capital Partners.
Samsonite expects to end 2007 with billings of 1.2 billion dollars and profits of 170 million, and keep the growth rate of recent years at an average of 10% for revenues and over 15% for profits. There are 700 single-brand outlets throughout the world, 57 of which carry the Samsonite Black Label sign.
“Today, the new brand represents about 5-7% of our overall business, but it is destined to grow” Bottoli said. “In 2007 alone, Black Label products will count for 30% of our growth”.
