The Roccobarocco men’s collection for fall-winter 2008/2009 was presented in the showroom at 12 Via Montenapoleone, Milan, January 14. It was also the occasion to find out about the Neapolitan stylist’s development plans for the label and the new store openings this year.
Inspired by a new dandy and international traveler, the new Roccobarocco collection includes destructured jackets and overcoats, blousons in eel-skin, cashmere sweaters with ironical cartoons for a look that’s super casual. “Starting with this collection, we decided to improve the sector of accessories such as shoes, bags, watches and eyewear, products on which consumers are evidently willing to spend even more”.
The apparel and accessories in the collection are made under license, with the exception of the outer garments, which are made in-house, “even though we are evaluating the possibility of licensing jackets and overcoats as well” the designer pointed out. The sweaters and jeans are made by the Modena company Il Marchese Coccapani, shoes and bags by Miriade of Nola (Naples), eyewear by Demenego of Belluno and watches by Les Montres of Caserta.
In parallel with the expansion of the accessories range, an international retail development plan is also underway. 60% (about 200 million euros) of Roccobarocco’s billings came from abroad in 2007 and in 2008 a single-brand store is scheduled to be opened in Dubai (in addition to the other two and only for accessories), Moscow and Belgrade. Lastly, a curious piece of news. Rocco Barocco recently received an invitation to put on a fashion show early April in an unusual location: Karachi in Pakistan. |
